     William Henry Valentine Brooks joined the Imperial Forces with three of his brothers. A previous employer, however, bought William Henry Valentine out of the army, but two of the brothers were killed in the Crimean War. Thomas Brooks was a Private in 1851 in the Portsmouth Division of the Royal Marines.

Selina BROOKS, who signed the wedding certificate of William Henry Valentine Brooks and Sarah Humphries as a witness, was probably a daughter in law from Sarah's first marriage though she could have been an unmarried daughter or even a granddaughter.

     Some Gibbs Family trees give a Susannah Gibbs as the sister of John Gibbs (and say that she married David John Wadsworth) while others say that David John Wadsworth married Susannah Caldwell Gibbs, John Gibbs's daughter. The marriage date would indicate that it is more likely to be the latter.
     John was born on 22 April 1805 in Hepworth, SFK, ENG. He was the son of Robert Gibbs and Bessie Ogden. In addition, John has also been reported to have been born in Epworth, SFK, ENG.

     John Gibbs was a soldier in the 12 Foot Regiment Suffolk. 1/12th (East Suffolk) Regiment. from 24 October 1823 to 1837.
